Review Policy
Reviews help future guests choose a boat and a tour. That is why we show them fairly: only from guests who actually sailed, and only after a check.

Who can write a review
Only guests who sailed
A review can be written by a guest whose tour was booked through us and took place.
A personal link
After the tour the guest receives a personal link. Without it, a review cannot be written.
One review per booking
Each booking can be reviewed once. The link stays valid for a year after it is sent.
How we check reviews
The guest sends a review
A rating for the day at sea, a few words if they like, and up to 5 photos. An optional second rating, for booking with us, is published only as part of an overall figure.
Our team checks it
Against the rules below. The decision is made by the platform team, not by the operator the review is about.
Published, or a reason by email
We publish the review as written. If it breaks the rules, we do not publish it and email the author the reason.
We do not edit what a guest writes: we publish a review as written or not at all. The one automatic change is that web links are removed when the review is sent. A photo that breaks the rules may be removed.
What we publish and what we do not
We publish
If they follow these rules, we publish:
- Honest experiences of the tour, praise and criticism, in the guest's own words
- Concrete details that help others: the boat, the crew, the sea, the plan for the day
- Photos from the tour
We do not publish
- Personal data: names of other guests or private persons, phone numbers, email addresses, and photos in which other people, especially children, can be recognised. The first name of your skipper or crew is fine.
- Insults, threats and discrimination
- Accusations that cannot be supported: for example of a crime or fraud, especially against named people. Describe your experience as you lived it.
- Advertising: links and contact details for promotion
- Content unrelated to the tour: other companies, politics, prices elsewhere
- Reviews by people who did not sail, or who have a conflict of interest: for example the operator, staff, family members or competitors
Reporting a review
Anyone can report a published review that breaks these rules, with the flag (Report review) under it or by email to info@privateboatshvar.com. Our team checks every report and replies by email. If a review breaks the rules, we remove it and email its author the reason.
If you disagree with our decision about a review or a report, reply to our email and we will look at it again. This does not affect your right to take the matter to court.
The operator's reply
The operator can post one public reply to a review once it is published. The reply goes live straight away and follows the same rules: we remove a reply that breaks them. The operator can correct the reply within 24 hours of posting it; after that it stays as it is. Operators cannot edit, hide or delete reviews, and may not offer a discount or any other benefit in exchange for a review. We do not pay for or reward reviews either.
Google and Tripadvisor ratings
Next to our reviews we show the operator's ratings from Google and Tripadvisor, with a link to the source. These are not reviews from our guests and we do not check them. The figures are entered by the operator or by our team, and where we can, the Google figure refreshes automatically once a week, so they may differ slightly from the source. On tour cards we show one figure: the average of both, weighted by their number of reviews.
